Animated masking for dynamic text boxes

Hi i have tried using the masking of dynamic text field tutorial but seem to be having problems.

The mask comes as a square. or a rectangle.

Also is it possible to have an animated mask for dynamic text fields. I have gone through a lot of threads and people say they have done it but don’t explain how they achieved it.

First, when masking dynamic text, remember to embed the font.

Second, if you are using an image with a transaprent background as a mask, the transparent pixels are still there, they’re just transparent

you could make a mask into a MovieClip or just animate it on the scene.

for dynamic text field, you’ll need to embed the chars and uncheck “auto kern”. and it should work.

You will see there is an animated movie on top of my text field I would like that to be masking the text file.

I dragged the ‘text’ layer up under Layer 4 and it appears to work just fine. (pretty cool btw) Also, I found a great AS Masking tut in my Flash Samples folder: (C:\Program Files\Macromedia\Flash 8\Samples and Tutorials\Samples\Masking\ScriptableMasksPart2) that may help.

Now I can see the dynamic text being masked,
but the mask comes upto the whole boundig box (it comes squarish);
i masked a shape with the same mask it does it properly.
