Masks and dynamic text?

Quite a simple question(s), but I just dnt know!!! It doesnt SEEM to be wrking…

Does a mask layer wrk on dynamic text??

And can a mask be tweened??

I just tried this. Dynamic Text cannot be masked. However, mask shapes can be shape tweened, or if its a clip, motion tweened.
Unfortunately, alpha settings cannot be applied to the mask, only the shapes underneath the mask.

There is a way however.

Create a Dynamic TextField;
Place it inside a Movieclip;

Now, go into the stage to edit it. Create the masking you need etc. :slight_smile:

cheers;

Try pressing Ctrl+Mousewheel. Or, view > Text Size > Medium.

o i see! the Dynamic text is the mask, and the box is in the background.

I thought that the box would be on the mask layer and the dynamic text on the layer beneath… now i see… thanks a lot H88 :slight_smile:

EDIT: CTRL + Mousewheel, thats how i accidentally changed the text size without realizing it. Again, thanks for the info, h88.

This board rules!!! <:}

Okay, updated, no need Parent + Child MC, just directly (after converting the textfield into mc) can be done. :slight_smile:

And embeding the textfield as well.
