My client is a music company, and we thought of an idea for their Flash intro:
For everyone who has a digital player with an LED screen, you’re familiar with those animated vertical rectangles that bounce up and down in sync to the audio. Well, this is what I saw in CBS MoneyWatch and a little of the same thing at MTV.com’s interface.
CBS MoneyWatch (the TV show) displays their title like this: Vertical bars rise up from the left to the right, shaped like a wave. They rise, crest, and fall and as soon as the last rectangle on the far right shrinks, the title is seen. And it is a fast animation.
MTV.com’s interface actually gives a better representation of those digital audio indicators. If you highlight a link the bars become active. I’d like to recreate this type of animation in my own Flash site, except that instead of the bars going horizontally to the right, they will go UP, just like the way a normal music player does.
Here is the example: http://www.mtv.com/
Does anyone know the best technique for creating this type of animation? I tried motion tweening and the animation looks choppy and too slow.
