Animation with one fixed point

I’ve got an intro movie for a website that I’d like to put a certain effect into. Basically it’s a line that one side is fixed in one spot and the other side to follow a motion path. Is there a tutorial on something like this or does it fall under the action script category?

It’s supposed to be a laser that is welding to seperate images together and leave a glowing effect after it passes over.
Thanks

Well it sounds like in your case it would be easier with tweens do you can do this…

Draw a line with the line tool.

Select the line, then press F8 on the keyboard to convert it to a symbol. Convert it to a graphic symbol (name it whatever you want), but next to the radio buttons you will see a square with 9 boxes. This square is a spot where you can set the registry point of your object. Select the point that most closely represents the end of the line you want to be fixed.

After your line is converted to a graphic you can right click on lets say frame 10 or so and choose “insert keyframe”. In this keyframe you can select your line clip, then use the free transform tool (6th tool down in the first row of tools in the tools panel) to scale and rotate the object as needed.

Since the registration point is set to the one end, that end will stay fixed and the rest will move.

thanks a bunch. I’ve asked that on other forums and nobody would give me a response.

No problem. I am here to help, so I help when I can
