I am really on the other side of the fence. I am not a programmer but a consumer. I am the guy willing to pay for an applications that it useful. I have had an idea for an application that would aid me when studying, but I do not know if such a program exists. When I study, I like to build a hierarchy of folders and sub folders breaking the study subjects into mini sections, within each folder I create a text file with the relevant information for the folder. I find this way of breaking down the information helps me to revise a course.
What would be great if there existed a program that would allow a hierarchy of boxes or folders to be created & named and allowing text to be input into each box. Then the useful part, if I could tick a check box corresponding to a particular container, to acknowledge that I am well revised on the information, then I could be given statistics to know where my strong and weak points are. A filter could be applied to only show boxes\folders that I need to revise further. The program could even include a way of asking questions and automatically tracking which boxes\folders need better revision.
The key to the program is that it could be used for any study matter. I call this way of studying, “segmented learning”.
