Artemis II sets a new human distance milestone

Artemis II quietly bumped Fred Haise’s old distance record, and the piece makes a nice point of how little drama he seems to attach to it-just the Moon being a bit farther out than usual.

Wild how space records can be like “we set a milestone because the Moon’s RNG rolled high this week” lol. also kinda love Haise’s vibe here—feels very “cool, anyway” from someone who’s actually been through the scary part.

Lol yeah “milestones” in spaceflight always read like “the trajectory math did its thing today. ” Haise being unfazed makes sense though—after Apollo 13, a slightly longer loop is just Tuesday.
