AS3 vs AS2, why is AS3 better?

Title says it all. I’m an novice-intermediate AS2 dev, but why should I learn AS3. I’ve searched these forums and google for a bit but didn’t find that much, can any of you explain the basic benefits / cons / etc. to AS3?
