Hey people…
I have a BIG project… [I have been putting it off for a while now]
Anyway, I need to create a 3D caveman… It needs to be cartoonish, yet full 3D. I will also animate the character. I can 2D this simple character all day, but that’s not what I need ! Also, I have to model a PCB. [Printed Circuit Board] On my desktop I have these 3D progs:
>Swift
>C4D
>Poser 4 Pro
>Bryce 5
[Animation to be done in FlashMX, UNLESS a freakin miracle happens, and I learn C4D]
Which do I use? Please ask yourself what steps would YOU take?
The caveman will look kinda like what is attached below.
I would suggest Poser for the caveman. If you have the pro pack for poser you can export to .swf. DOnt know much about c4d and its ability to export to .swf. You may be able to export pieces and reconstuct in swift then export to .swf. But that is the hard route. Id go poser. The circuit board will be easy. I would use swift for that assuming you have v3. You can apply a circuit board material to an extruded object then make a few components and be done.
You said that you may import into Swift…
I am new with this prog, I didn’t know that…
What format do I use?
Also, the PCB will not be as easy as I made it sound…
It has to be an exact mock of the pic below…
yeah dude n swift that would be pretty easy to replicate…the green part you can re-make in ps 7. then map that onto a plane or box primitive. Then if you look at the various components they are mainly basic shapes you can make lathe and extruded objects for the pcb.
If c4d exports .dxf or .obj then you are in the money. However the new c4d may have an swf exporter i am not sure. You can build and animate your character in poser kinda easily…go to www.3dbuzz.com I think I saw a tut there.
Thanks iva !!

I want to post all progress so, keep up!
lol
No, this is a slightly, uh, “intimidating” project…
I gotta feeling this company is about to get pretty big…
