I need some basic frontpage help. This is my first time using frontpage (version 2002) but I am very familiar with all other microsoft type programs (Word, Excel, etc.). I’ve used tables frequently in Word but I’m having difficulties with them in Frontpage. I’m trying to use them just for layout and so I have selected “none” for autoformat and borders so just the text will appear on the web. Despite this I keep getting a basic layout that shows solid lines when previewed. Additionally, I don’t seem to be able to change the paragraph spacing in these tables to single. I must admit, I’m finishing a web that was started by someone else so there may be some odd codes, but I don’t see anything glaring with reveal codes.
Additionally, I have added some shading that shows in the normal and preview views, but does not show when I view the web in the preview with your browser mode (my browser is internet explorer).
Anyone have ideas on what is causing these seemingly odd responses?
okay, so u obviously know that wen u insert a table u set the border size to ‘0’. As for autoformat, u lost me there. I also don’t know wot u’r talking about with the paragraph spacing business… maybe explain in more detail… cheerz… C:-)
When I was talking about auto format I meant that when you go to the table tab, you select autoformat and then none for the the format. In other Microsoft programs this usually eliminates any border, and just gives you a dotted line. But, quite by accident, you answered my question. I didn’t have the borders set to 0, only the cell padding, and by doing this it did fix the problem with the borders. Thanks!!!
The other two problems are as follows:
For some reason, inside my tables when I type text and then hit return there seems to be a space in between lines as if I had hit return twice or set my paragraph spacing to two. Any ideas what might be causing this. The reveal codes button shows nothing.
The last part is about shading in a box. The shading shows in both the normal and preview views but does not show with the preview with browser. I’m using a basic gray shading. Any ideas about this?
Hey Shannon,
To create a regular line break (Enter) in FrontPage, press Shift + Enter. Regarding your second question, how are you applying the shading to your cells? The easiest method would be to simply right click on a cell and select Cell Properties. From there, you will find a small drop-down menu labeled background color. Select the color you want from there - the shading will be applied.
yep… i was gonna say d same ting about the returns but i dint realise shan meant colouring by shading…
and wot did exactly happen last nite ay kirupa??? i couldn’t access any forums due to some technical hitch in some php code or somink… i must i say i expected better from the eden of the internet!!!
