Bush doesn't know what a word means.. so?

I want to see som Kerry bashing

Without making this a political debate at all, you have to admit Bush is waaay more goofy!

I always say this; Do you remeber when he asked the Brazilian President if they had black people there?!! I hate to sound like a broken telephone, but its hilarious! I giggle when I think about it.

If I remember correctly, I saw the actual thing on C-Span where Kerry and Bush each had their turn in front of the minority press meeting or whatever over a period of two days. The entire question wasn’t about the meaning of sovereignty, but it was more about how native american tribes should co-exist within the bounds of the state they are living in.

I googled and found a larger article that places this in context: http://seattlepi.nwsource.com/local/186171_bushtribes13.html

What bugs me about the anti-Kerry or anti-Bush posts is not that they are necessarily wrong, it’s that they only show one side of a larger, more complicated issue.

What the video does not show (I wonder why) is what the Prez. said after that:

THE PRESIDENT: Tribal sovereignty means that, it’s sovereign. You’re a – you’ve been given sovereignty, and you’re viewed as a sovereign entity. And, therefore, the relationship between the federal government and tribes is one between sovereign entities.

Now, the federal government has got a responsibility on matters like education and security to help, and health care. And it’s a solemn duty. And from this perspective, we must continue to uphold that duty. I think that one of the most promising areas of all is to help with economic development. And that means helping people understand what it means to start a business. That’s why the Small Business Administration has increased loans. It means, obviously, encouraging capital flows. But none of that will happen unless the education systems flourish and are strong, and that’s why I told you we’ve spent $1.1 billion in the reconstruction of Native American schools. (Applause.) Yes, it is humorous, but in the larger scheme of what he says, it is a fairly minor mishap for a Prez. known for his wrong use of words. In my view, it is these one-sided, cut & paste portrayals of politics that are ruining any real political debate all around the country.

:sigh:

but in the even larger scheme of what he doesn’t say, he actually never answered the question that was asked,

“… What do you think tribal sovereignty means in the 21st century, and how do we resolve conflicts between tribes and the federal and the state governments?..”

he stumbles around attempting to define the word ‘sovereignty’ and then starts blathering on about small business administration and money for schools, each good I suppose in their own right but irrelevent to the point being asked.

… weak redemption if you ask me

And he is surposed to be such a great debater…

Yeah, You don’t need to know what sovereign means when your president.

Do you need to know the difference between “your” and “you’re”? Should I make fun of you for the next 4 years because you made a mistake? Or should I let it go because all humans make mistakes?

First of all: he’s dutch, so English isn’t his mother language. It IS Bush his mother language.

Second, he’s not the President of the USA. You’d expect a president to have a certain level of intelligence, and if he says stupid things like that, it’s normal people 'll mock him.

I’m sure none of you would ever mess up on a speech that millions were watching. I forgot you are all perfectly grammatical human beings. I should follow your lives around with a camera and post all your mistakes.

Oh he isn’t the President. Thanks for clarrifying that for me, I must have been mistaken the last four years. I would also think a web designer would have a certain level of intelligence too. By the way, maybe you should post a picture of yourself so I can compare you to an animal. Sounds good being in the public eye all the time, don’t you think Captain Perfect?

[Edit: 4,000 posts, sucks I wasted it on a Political Thread.]

Yes you did. Thank you  :thumb:

[ Don’t push me kid, I’ll mop you all over this forum - TK ]

That’d be great! I’ll PM you my address :thumb:

:run: :run:

Leaders lead by example, not by speeches. Obviously what a politian says can be completely different from his actions, so I don’t think screwing up on a speech is that big of a deal.

That being said, Bush doesn’t only stumble on his speeches, but he stumbles on his policies as well. If he wins in November, I’m going to cry myself to sleep for 4 years.

I’ve been crying for these past 4 years…we don’t need it to be 8.

Maybe for the past 4 years you shouldn’t have been using Icy Hot as lubricant.

My Kirupa senses tell me this thread won’t be ending well :kommie:

Kirupinator knows all. Kirupa is the All Seeing Eye!

Should we lock this one big guy?

haha - thread was actually already locked
