Business card critiques

For being as simple it is it has way too much going on. I think you need to take the “New Media Designer” out of the logo entirely.

But back to the business card. I don’t like the layout at all. It doesn’t seem like you thoughtfully placed the information and logo, nor the background image.

Not trying to be rude, but it looks pretty weak. Check this link for some inspiration. They’re not all good, but you should get some ideas.

Yea the coloring doesn’t even match, you have some things with lots of gradients and some without. You need to have a constant look all thur out the business card.

I like the basic card design, but I have one concern:
Your contact information is along the edge, outside the live area.
It will almost certainly get cropped to some extent.
(No printing service will certify this layout unless you pay extra for a border job.)

Your layout should have at least .0625" bleed, and .125" margin along the edges.
Keep all important content within this margin.

BTW, 4over.com now does multicolored metallics, which I think would work nicely for the cropped logo in the upper left corner.

I like it:P

the fade on the red looks bad.

The layout and tone is ultra unbalanced

the proportions are off… its too tall and wide

you shouldn’t put your giant logo overlay up in the corner like that, as it is the only graphical element, it should probably be displayed in full…

get rid of the gradient overlays on the contact information… when thats printed at real size, its going to look like poop

is “Jay” your full name? Me thinks putting your real full name on it (Jason ?) is better, and more professional…

I for one wouldn’t put “JAMZ YO!” on my business card lol

Jay Reyes is my full name (-:

Fair enough!

…also the picture/colors isn’t the same on the real card, the quality is way different. Once I get it through mail, I’ll put it up - but other than that, thnx for all the critiques.

But whats the point of asking for critiques if you’ve already sent it off to be printed ?

…only did 50 cards, for test to see the real colors on print.:thumb2:

Looks good. I would only warn you against printing gradients with CMYK process. The results are never predictable. I think these cards would look great with white text on the same bkg. Also, watch the margin near the bottom, that text might get cut off if the printer sneezes while cutting. I recommend always keeping a border margin of 3mm for business cards when placing text content.

I’d be a little leery of squeezing your contact info along that bottom edge. That is, after all, the whole purpose of a business card, so make sure you don’t make people work too had for it.
