Button...a stupid question

how create a button? It’s a stupid question but if I create a button from a text, trasformed in button, and I create the fourth keyframe as a big square ON the text, the button doesn’t work well because mouse, when goes over text, doesn’t became “hand” and becames “hand” only out of the text, in the area designed by the square. Why?..help me
