Frustration over button creation

Hello forum (i’m new to Flash),

I have a question about button creation.

Ok, Here’s my problem. I created a button (and each state has the same geometric shape, and I also added text to it using the text tool). i then added it to the main timeline. Now I tested the movie…when i run the mouse over the text portion of the button, the mouse cursor doesn’t turn into a hand. And the button isn’t clickable.

anybody help.

You are probably using selectable dynamic text.

You can use dynamic text, but you must make it unselectable in the properties panel.

It is a button that says “Ab” with the “b” having a dark background.
