California Immigration

Anyone else read the special report in the LA times last weekend? It said:

  • 1 in 8 people in the US live in California.
  • Avg. growth of 600,000 new residents a year.
  • about 6 % of California’s population is thought to be “unauthorized”
  • Current population of 34 million, expected to be 60 Million by 2020.

Is this good or bad for the State and country?

I can live with the welfare, as a society we have decided we need to help out the less forturnate. We are, however, a society of laws and anyone that is living here should be legally registered. The more illegals we have working in labor type jobs, the fewer people will be allowed to legally imigrate to work, since the demand for labor will be down. Often children of illegals end up in ESL (English as a Second Language) classes in our elementary schools. These classes recieve significantly more funding than other courses, including the classes for advanced students.
