Having owned flash for a grand total of ten days now, I’ve had a chance to play around and get my first effort up on the web. Things going plus or minus alright, although I’m completely incompetant when it comes to programming (i literally know none) and am thus struggling with getting whats in my head, onto the computer.
Basically, what i want is a button. This button will launch a photo slideshow. Now, the slideshow I’m using is a premade .swf from the template in Flash MX 2004. Groovy stuff - changed the colors, put in my own pix, lala la life is good.
First problem: when I load the file (using a loader triggered by the button <-- of which i was proud!) it loads, BUT: it flicks through the pix stupidly fast, and the controller (for next pic, last pic, autoview) doesnt work. At all. I suspect this may have something to do with libraries and paths, but have NO CLUE.
Second - when people mouse-over my button, I want a teeny .swf to play. This I have done successfully. I’ve even got it to place the .swf correctly, and to unload it on mouse off, and on release. BUT: the sound doesnt play!! WHHHHHHHYYYYY!??! Is this another library problem?

Your problems with the photo slide show may have something to do with the fact that it’s from a macromedia template. I’m not sure without seeing the files. Playing a small swf when you mouse over something may be unecessary. If it’s so small it may be simpler to just put it in a movie clip and put it on the “Over” frame of the button. Definately take some time to read the tutorials on this site, they are a life saver for learning flash.

yaah.swf is the mini .swf i want to play on mouseover the button, which goes along with the .wav file
gallery.swf is the photo slideshow I want to load into the main site (www.thoughtsetc.com)
STILL cant figure out how to code a button in a scene that loads the gallery properly, or includes the .wav sound effect when playing the mouseover yaah.swf.

Sorry to be a thick-*** nonce, you’ll see my flash work is sloppy as hell (even I realised this after reading just about all of the tutorials on the site…oh the shame)
