I am relatively new to the website design scene so dont laugh at me please!
I am making a website for my girlfriend for her karate school and i have been using frames to do so, but i hear that using frames can be a disaster. I dont know anything about tables or layers, so i was wondering - can i make this site by using either of these? I will learn how if it is possible. Here is my site -
You can indeed use tables or layers to build the site (or any site for that matter).
Tables mean though that your page will scroll, vertically if not horizontally. So if the text and content is longer than the height of the users’ screen, when they scroll down to read it, they will ‘lose’ the top part of the page, with the logo etc.
This is a big reason why people use frames, as it keeps important items like menus on screen at all times.
I’m not a great fan of them myself, but in some circumstances they can be useful. It’s a question of compromise - are people likely to try to bookmark your site? If they are, frames may be a bad idea. If not, you can probably get away with using them.
