Center pop-up over the logo

I was just wondering what all of you thought about the sites that launch a pop-up from the intro page.
Like this one: http://www.aarondeemer.com/index2.html or the many others out there.

It is kind of effective since once they close the pop-up to leave your site, they see your logo or whatever, which reinforces your brand name, but it is two-windows and pop-ups are getting rather annoying these days.

Just looking for some feedback. Sorry if this is in the wrong forum.

I think it’s a good idea.
I’m not a big fan of full screen without warning though :frowning:

Me too. You see, people who are experienced in the net just have the habit on poping down the windows as 99% of the time it is useless spam…
I think Kel is right - leave a warning or make sure it’s a button…

Pop ups are never really a wise choice. An option for a pop-up is though.

See… many web viewers despise pop-ups, automatically closing them out as soon as they come up. And with the popularity of pop-up blockers growing every day, more and more people aren’t even able to view sites that are contained in a pop-up without disabling the pop-up blocker. This is a pain for them, so they usually just avoid it and don’t come back to the site. Or they just think your site has a false/dead link because they never even get to see the pop-up.
