So true Phil Though I bet their multi-millions when it comes out on the market (If hehe…) I hope they do, cause Id buy one :bad:
Just one step closer to bring science fiction into the home…
woohoo another wat to get out of school or some boring lecture!!=)
Wow that is a very cool peiece of clothing. I wonder if our government would let it out into the mass market. :goatee:
invisible man! =)
i´ll only believe when i wear one of these…
I want one!
The millitary has had something like that for (at least) a few years now - same concept, though of course for other non-commercial purposes
I’ve heard about this as well. There are over a hundred patents on the technology in the US alone.
The interview I had heard with the American developer layed it out like this.
a) You can make anything cloaked from a man, to an airplane.
b) size will alter the cost. The larger the object, the cheaper it is to do it to.
c) how invisible you want something will up the price. ie, do you want a shimmery pixelated invisibility, like the “Predator” uses, or do you want true invisibility. For “true”, you need to use a LOT of pixels and it gets very costly.
d) will the object that is cloaked be moving? Will the objects behind it be moving, either one ups the price.
and e) what background will the object be moving across. ie, if it’s just sky then the pixels only need to be able to replicated blues and whites, where as someone inside a home, invisible would require the pixels to produced millions of colors in both odd shapes and vertical/horizontal regular lines.
So, the end result was this. If you wanted a suit that would turn a human completely invisible to anyone viewing him from any angle while both he and they were moving in an environment of highly bright, and varied colored lights, you would need money in the range of hundreds of millions of dollars, and then only after his product had become marketed long enough to produce a public sector market. He’s still waiting for the military contract, but since he’s the only US guy to have the patents on this tech, he feels pretty strongly that he will get it.
If I can find this guys name and web page I’ll certainly pass it along, but it was months ago that I heard about this so I’m really not sure where to start looking.

Yes you are right.
I saw a thing on the discovery channel about it. They have cameras on the back that take live video of whats behind them and display it on the front.
As david said… it looks sorta like the movie “Predator”. It was ultra cool looking.
i am an sceptical (is that a word?) by nature, but i´ve seen some new produts the baffles me.
does anyone know about that new material, that is lighter than air (it floats!!) and stronger than steel?
some kindaof foam of some sort :-\
lighter than air and stronger than steel??? havent heard of that one!
I know about the increase in interest in carbon nanatubes though. Stronger than steel (and lighter) but not lighter than air. :-\
that´s right sen. and i forgot to mention that it is translucid too.
not transparent or invisible, but you can see thru it =)
cool, insn´t it?
yeah…
I want some! Id build a car out of it… iCar woohoo!
i think that´s was the idea…
this material was developed in a US military research on new materials for crafts (air planes, tanks, etc…) but the aplications turn out to be inumerous: bullet proof suits, boats, submarines…
the problem now, is the same with all new technologies: high cost.
but when they figure how to make that cheaper we gonna see that everywere =)
could you imagine! They could make houses and cars and almost anything out of that stuff, that would be amazing!
and theyd be FLOATING houses and cars! =)
(just not meant for windy areas ;))
… then again if they’re strong enough, they could all just float around and bumb into each other and we wouldnt have to worry about it…
hahaha - nothing like falling asleep in London and waking up in Toronto!
try explaining that one to the boss when you are late!
youd just attach a long chain to your work so you could never be too far away =)
omg the possibilities are endless! I hope this will happen in my lifetime
Floating invisible cars!!!
