Cloaked domains!?

Hello folks,

I’ve got a tiny HTML problem…

I buy my domains under www.simply.com they offer ‘cloaking’ so you can have your site stored in one place and use ur cloaked address to point to it, eg www.some-space-for-site.site.net could be just www.yoursite.com. I cloak all the sites I have, basically cos i dont know how to do it any other way, i cant transer my domain to my hosting.

The problem is when I try to use a javascript popup window from within flash it doesnt work? I presume this is because of the cloaking because it works if I take it off. Anyone heard of this and know a fix? Or maybe i’m just speakin total crap I dunno…lol

Yeah, it is the cloaking. I believe RenGirl had this problem with her portfolio. We could not figure it out for the life of us.

So she changed her URL from cloaking to redirect.

I don’t know if we tried this…

In the getURL change the target window from _self or whatever to _parent

Thanks very much, your like the only person thats commented on it, I posted it in the ‘site check’ area once but no-one replied :frowning: actually beta did but no-one else, so I just figured no-one liked it!

The ‘cloaking’ or ‘masking’ will be able to use javascript if you piont the url to the real absolute. A mask always stays in place kinda like a frame, but your popups have to point to the real sight. Thats why some popouts go without menubar.

Rynoe: A lot of problems with cloaked domains in that when launching a pop up from inside Flash they will not launch. You click, but nothing happens.

Not that the errors becomes wrong, just that the window won’t launch.

Are they pointing to the true domain? because I have several cloaked sites and I can do it fine?!?!?!?

What does it matter if the window will not even launch.

The window doesn’t launch with a 404 it just doesn’t launch.

Even if you have the right URL to load the page into.

Hmmmmmm,

Well, like I said I have sites that are masked and I can use both javascript and flash to link to other sites.

I don’t know, maybe I’m confused (wouldn’t be the first time) about what the problem is…

The problem is confusing.

Apparently when launching a pop up from withing Flash will not launch in a cloaked domain. I dunno if it is like that for all cloaked domains as I have never even tried it on mine, but it doesn’t work for skid and it didn’t work for Ren.

Ren fixed hers by uncloaking her domain and using her URL as a redirect instead of a cloak.

So no examples of it now.
