Color "palette" for a catalog

Kind of an unusual critique/comment request…

I’m working on a catalog for a company that makes medical instruments - there’s about 7 sections of this catalog and I need to have a sort of “theme color” for each section. Mind you these theme colors will have only a very minor presence on each corresponding page, as the catalog’s overall color palette will be pretty consistent throughout.

None of these colors will appear on the same page together (except maybe the index) so it’s not as important that they look good with each other.

Anyway, my basic goals are:

1] Look decent

2] Pastel-ish… kind of neutral-ish…

3] Different enough so there’s no confusion

4] Look good with black

5] Look good with white

6] Both black and white text can be legibly read on every color

Anyway, you can view it

HERE
(I added a black bar on the right for comparison purposes, and put text on each color to test legibility)

What I mostly want to know are:

1] Are any of the colors hideous? (This catalog will be clean, professional, and medical. The colors don’t necessarily have to be, as they will just be minor highlights on the page used mainly for reference, but if they’re really nasty, that’s a bad thing)

2] Are any two colors too similar?

3] Is the black and white text legible?

Any other comments are appreciated as well. Remember, this is NOT a design… just a color selection

Thanks!
