Compression

Hello All,

I’ve made some rather large .swf files in the past and have decided to go back and make them more cpu friendly but when I follow the steps to compress my .jpg’s and wav’s I end up with a larger .swf!!! What would this result from?

What exactly did you do to compress the jpg and wav files?

changing the quality of the images to 70-80 %

changing the wav to mp3 format

make sure you delete the old wav from the library (press ctrl+L), so only the mp3 is there, not the wav. check the library for any duplicate files and thing that you dont need. once you’ve done that: ‘save as’ and save over the old file and publish.

perhaps a stupid question, but did you delete your old files from the liberary?

hehe… I guess we think the same.

j/k

hmmm. uh, so then, what am I doing wrong as it never creates a second library item it only seems to adjust the current one?

um… are you sure you dont have a wav and an mp3 file?

Adjust it?

Try to delete the entire item, from the stage and the library and re import the mp3 file.
