Copyright Issues?

Where else to put this besides random? Who knows? Let me know if you think otherwise.

~ If I was to use the infamous ‘f’ logo from macromedia for flash as a button directing to my flash projects would that be a copyright issue? I wanted to use it for the obviousness of it.

Technically, as long as you’re not marketing anything and putting the logo on it (like selling a shirt or something with that symbol on it). As for just using the logo on your site, I wouldn’t see why it would be wrong.

Go with it.

Ask MAcromedia before using it… I’m guessing they could append it as part of their logo, thereby putting you in a liability you might not want to get into

Indeed, I don’t see why you couldn’t use a logo of a product to indicate that something was made using that program. Macromedia should be happy, free advertising :stuck_out_tongue:

By the way, Junior Online uses it in their actionscript experiments as well. As far as I know, they still use it, so go for it

Does everyone infringe copyright when they put the ‘f’ in their splash pages when saying the site needs flash? :h:

very good reasoning phat7.

that was just because you were a couple seconds faster than me in typing your post, mr. Churchill. It wasn’t there when I hit the reply button. :stuck_out_tongue:

Let it be known that Dr.Phil was very helpful in answering my question.

THANK YOU DR.PHIL for you wonderphul reply.

 ! ~ Seretha B.

the key is that you put : stuff made with “f”

not just the “f”

just using the “f” insinuates that registered trademarked logo is yours unless otherwise noted…

this from MM themselves a few years back. You could say made with MM Flash, but you could not just put the MM logo up…

I would contact them too… I moderate another flash community, and part of our logo had the Flash logo on it, we contacted them before we used it though and they said it was okay.
