Could you check out my image?

I recently purchased photoshop and made a banner type image for a ficticious company. I would like to ask the following questions:

  1. Does the image look Blurry? (When I preview it in Opera, it looks fine. But when I try in AOL, it looks poor)

  2. Does this image look professional? What needs improvement? Please bare in mind that my next step is to put animation of words on the right hand side of the banner (I will do this with Photoshop Image ready)

That’s it really, as I said, I have only had photoshop for a short while so I hope you won’t be too hard on me.

There are no ad pop ups on the site!

Thank you.

  1. The words don’t look blurry, but the three laptops in the back look a bit too ‘alpha-ed out’.

  2. I’d give it a 6.7 out of 10. It needs more work, it looks a bit plain. Try using brighter colors on the words and instead of just 1 laptop pasting over 3x, make other images.

Otherwise, great job.

Max.

Thanks a lot for replying. My main worry was how images were displaying in browsers but you say it looked ok, so that’s great. I agree with you that the design side of things could be much improved. To be honest, I didn’t spend long on it. I like the subtle layering effects that photoshop can achieve and was trying to do just that, you know, screen captures pasted into photoshop combined with solid shapes and alpha fades etc. Am I making sense?

Thanks again for your reply.

Yea, I kinda get the jist on what you did based on the image. Sharpen it up a bit and show off again, see what else you can play around. Play with some filters and such, they’re always fun.

Will do.

Max, I’ve redone the whole thing with lighter colours and a touch of animation. If you look again i’m not sure if the old page will be cached on your system and you might see the old image?

Bye.

different font, faster animation dont forget u have to grab users attention in less then 10 seconds, and the brake between your frames its like so long, also to make it more cool, everytime u change the message try finding laptop pictures with different angles, so every time u change the angle of that laptop changes too. Another thing is that what’s really important in the banners is call to action which your banner doesnt have, call to action = click here - check it out now - click here win this laptop - click here end so on end so on, banners = think of it like a magazine if the cover its not so interesting people will not take it, but if the cover has a nice nike logo, people will take it…same with banners!

good start

Thanks for that. Great advice. I was just experimenting really because I’ve only had photoshop for a couple of weeks and just wondered if I could make something that was at least acceptable. I don’t know how to make the call to action as you mention in your post. Do you know of any tutorials that could show me how to perform this function. I made it in image ready.

THANKS AGAIN.

check my screenshot…see that click here that’s a call to action, animate only that…u know why, ur banner size is 90k, that passes the standard limit and no advertising company on the internet will accept to have that on their site, max limit for this size banner is 25 - 30k so u might want to output it on 16 to 32 colors max, if that doesnt work, reanimate it, and no gradients because gradients makes it heavy!

how I know…I design about 20 banners a day…working for a marketing company

hope this helps man

That looks great. I see what you mean.

Thanks a lot for your advice. I will look into all your suggestions.

Thank you.
