CPU demands made by flash

Hey there,

The new company site is done, more or less, having already missed the may1reboot we are struggling to get things ready quickly.

One of the main problems was I found the site to be very heavy on the cpu. The site is at 60fps. Which to me is just common practice. The site runs perfectly when i run it locally (on my computer in swf previews) however when i preview it in the browser, it runs significantly slower than it should.

I found myself trying to correct it by “upping” the fps to 95 to make it run like it should on my computer. I hear you saying 95fps is rediculous, which it is, BUT it the fps doesnt reflect the way the movie plays in the browser.

I have never before had this problem with flash online before. Has anyone else come accross this problem, of having a slower frame rate once viewed in browser, even if the move is properly preloaded?

Any help appreciated.

p.s i am reluctant to post the test site as the company hasnt officially launched yet (the transition from freelance, to Ltd) and the site isnt 100% complete.

60fps! That is ridiculous in my opinion. I never do anything over 35fps.

well yup imagine you have a loop that loops 30 times for each onEnterFrame, at 60fps it has to do 1800 times your action - which is imo ridiculous… Try lower frame rate anywhere between 24 fps and 35 fps - and check if there aren’t too many loops/ or massive onEnterframe functions

Each to their own my friend.

So any help with why it should run slower un browser?

i have nothing like that mlk, just a plain load of tweens.
