I currently have a Pentium M (745) 1.8Ghz 400Mhz FSB CPU on the PM855 mobo. I have an ‘option’ right now to swap it for a 1.86Ghz 533Mhz FSB (750). Is it going to work? Is the FSB gain worthit?
^If both have the same amount of pins then they will usually work. Any gain is worth it even though thats not a whole lot of change.
I’m not sure if they do have the same number of pins. Since my mobo only supports up to 400Mhz, will a 533 just be clocke down automatically?

I’m really not sure, but you would only be gaining 60 mhz…hardly noticeable. I remember when the first generation P4’s were first coming out. It was honestly hard to notice any difference between a 1.4, 1.6, or 1.8 ghz processor.
Is this a free swap?

Yep… i’m pretty sure it just gets clocked down.
Yeah, free swap. Will my CPU work on that mobo then? In other words, can that mobo run a slower clock w/ slower FSB?
