Crazy font/character embedding in Flash 8

Hey all. Got a weird problem here with dynamic text and character embedding in Flash 8.

I’ve got an FLA file saved in Flash MX 2004 format, with dynamic text fields. I’ve set it to embed uppercase, lowercase, numerals and punctuation - the standard 114 glyphs.

When I publish this file out of Flash 8, I get a whole bunch of weird characters added to the embedded set.

Here’s the output from size report files:

Flash MX 2004:
HelveticaNeue Condensed 13701 !"#$%&’()*+,-./0123456789:;<=>?@ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVWXYZ[]^_`abcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyz{|}~

Flash 8:
HelveticaNeue Condensed 13701 !"#$%&’()*+,-./0123456789:;<=>?@ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVWXYZ[]^_`abcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyz{|}~€…Œ‘“”™œ¡¢£©«®°´» ¿ÀÁÄÆÈÉÌÍÑÒÓÖÙÚÜßàáâäæçèéêëìíîïñòóôöùúûü

This is the same file, nothing has changed - I’ve just published from different versions of Flash.

Anyone have any ideas why this is happening?

Cheers!
