I’d go for net zero it’s only like 10 bucks a month or something like that
Either cable, or DSL. I have DSL - and in my area, dsl runs just as fast (at most times faster) than cable. I recomend DSL, its about $12-$24 cdn/month, but its definately worth it.
Oh yes, good for you leaving AOL. I used to have AOL - It was HORRIBLE!
***runs over, carrying ribbons and a robe and a water bottle and hot soup and bunny slippers
panting- oh my, you must be so tired from your journey out of HELL, here, master, take this, it will make you feel rejuvenated…
where I live DSL is faster than cable at all times!
I have AT&T Worldnet simply because, where I live, there is no cable or dsl available. But if you have access to it, get either one! Faster is always better, and after a while you won’t know how you ever lived without it!
Wave goodbye to AOL! Yay!

I’ve used Netzero for years when they still had the unlimited hours and no banners, and decent bandwith. Those where the good days. Now, unless you pay, or even if you pay, theres a lot of extra crap they put in. I use this small private company called GTC Internet (www.gtcinternet.com), they offer same price as Netzero except you don’t have to download anything, they set you up by going through a built in windows setup thing, plus, the bandwith is really alsome, on my 56k, I get up to 50.6Kbps. One bad side is they only limit to 150 hours a month, so that cuts it down to around 5 hours a day, isn’t that bad. Plus, they don’t round, so 1 min will = 1 min, not like 1 hour.
=)
Since you’re English, I’d say Freeserve.
O, crap, I ain’t no English people. I think this is from the states only though.
Ya, thats a good point, what area do you live in orange one?
I’d go with Earthlink. If you guys notice, he said they aren’t going to go to broadband anytime soon.
DSL sucks weiner guys. You have to put filters on your phones and it’s way slower then my cable. We get the choice of 2 cable companies here and with 1 company I get 4megabits down and the other is 2megabits down. No freakin way in hell that DSL can match that. (Those are the normal speeds on peak hours.)
yeah but cable is a shared line, those rates are deceiving when more people are online at the same time then the net speed per user can spiral down dramatically
DSL kicks cable a-ss! I don’t know what the hell is wrong with your area, but where I am, there are few times when DSL is slower than cable.
as for filters, you only have to install one if you install a phone after getting service. Even then, you just install it over the main line in to the house (I don’t know about you, but that is accessable to the home owners where I live).
For me, Peak hours on cable are slow as hell, for dsl, it just ands a few pings.
DSL for Life!
DSL filter - a little thingie that you plug into the phone jack. whoo. tough.
When we were getting DSL it was such a pain in the *** we quit the service before we ever even got it working. We had like 5 phone lines in our house we would had of had to put the filters on. I just have never been a fan of DSL, cable has always been faster here.
Must be the american service. Thats my best guess.
You can take the Blue pill and stay where you are, or
You can take the Red pill and move to Canada. Land of free health care and hassle free internet.
I dunno, it was just a sudden thought
Also, DSL can reach 2mbit a second. I have 2mbit DSL and it does reach that speed quite a lot of the time. When I speedtest it, I get about 2100kbits a second. I once got 6 megabytes in 9 seconds. It also isn’t shared.
Orange - I’d go for Gio Internet. I heard they were quite good.[link]
