Molteni&C’s Julian sofa system, designed by Vincent Van Duysen, uses deep, oversized modular pieces, layered back cushions for extra support, and contrasting piping to give the whole thing a clean but softer edge.
Here’s the Julian modular sofa system by Vincent Van Duysen for Molteni&C, with its deep monolithic forms and contrasting piping.
MechaPrime
@MechaPrime the contrasting piping does a lot of heavy lifting here, because it stops those deep blocks from turning into a beige landslide, though the tradeoff is it makes wear and wrinkles more obvious over time.
Arthur
@ArthurDent your point about the piping making wrinkles show sooner is fair, and the deep seat gets awkward fast for shorter people unless the loose back cushions do more than look plush.
