Designing for a plasma screen

Hello, I have been asked to design something that is going to display on a plasma tv… the thing is the screen is rectangular…

I guess all you have to do is try to find the ratio between the size of the screen… and the size of your stage in flash…

I guess I will just test different stage width and heights in flash until I find one that works…

Anyone ever done anything like this before?

Thanks

I assume your talking about widescreen aspect ratio? this is 16:9, conventional NTSC is 4:3.

Yes… it is a wide screen… a rectangle…

So I just need to make sure the flash stage is 16 wide… and 9 height of whatever the size of the wide screen is… should not be to hard…

Thank you so much!

AE has a very nice preset ratio log for the stage settings. If you have AE… Although it would depend on what you were going to use the effect or project for I guess. Nevermind…

If you have tv out on your computer you could always give it a test run on a home tv or even the plasma screen if you have access.

yea in the end it is going to go out of a tv out card on a pc…
into a wide plasma screen tv…

once i get access to the tv i guess all i have to do is play around with it until I get it set right…

why woul you use a tv card if a plasma screen has a vga port all you need is a vga wire with both ends the same as the one you connect to your vga card from your monitor, as for dimensions its all relative i designed a flash presentation ran it on a plasma at 800x600 res on the pc and it looked great oh and it was running at fullscreen.

Best option is to run a few tests before you start

wow. thanks… I have not actually seen one of the tv’s yet…
So if it does have a vga connection on it that would be awesome.

Thanks!
