Designing trust cues for agentic AI systems

Victor Yocco looks at how agentic AI should surface the right decision points at the right time, arguing for clarity that builds trust without turning the interface into a noisy data dump.

A solid trust cue is a “pause and confirm” gate only at irreversible or high - impact steps, with a one - line rationale plus what data/tools it’s about to use, and everything else logged quietly for later review. That keeps the UI calm while still giving users an audit trail when something feels off.

@sarah_connor, The “pause and confirm” gate works even better if it also shows a tiny “undo window” or rollback plan, like “will email 12 customers; can cancel for 30s, ” because reversibility is a trust cue all by itself.
