I have a 19" LCD monitor and an outdated video card that has a DVI output and an analog output. I’ve always been using the DVI port but that magically stopped working a year ago. I’ve been using analog since.
Now I want to upgrade to Vista and I’ll need a better graphics card. I only have enough money to buy a video card. But the problem is, I don’t know if it’s the DVI output of the video card that I currently have that’s broken, or the DVI input of the monitor that is broken. So there’s a chance that I get a new video card, and the DVI would still not work (and I want to use DVI not analog). But like I said, I don’t want to buy a video card AND a monitor to use Vista.
So is there a way to test which is broken? The DVI out of the video card or the DVI in of the monitor? I don’t have any other video cards or monitors that have DVI support…
