Does this flash bog down your processor?

Please take a look at this “jobtracker” I’m working on for my department and tell me what you think. You can throw the windows w/ physics and inertia, however the search window boggggz my system down when thrown, is it just me?

2.4 Ghz
1.5 Ghz ram

2meg broadband

everything fine here!

first off, you have a slow computer (by todays standards) so a lot of things might be slow for you.

secondly, Flash is not fast. Despite its sharing a name with a very fast superhero, its generally “slow” in terms of processing and display performance. Flash 7 is faster, so I suggest getting that if you havent already, but in general, just by design and what its doing, Flash will be slow.

finally, based on what the example given is doing, moving large windows with text and transperancy, don’t expect speed. Thats asking for slowdown with that formula. Throw in a few long loops of script and you’ll easily cug the player and your computer. And Flash wont hesitate to use all your processor can dish out to try to get its movie to play.

So it is by no means abnormal for that site to play slow for you. Be happy if its even usable on your computer.

its good on a mac, which can be a concern.

Windows XP
2.1 GHz AMD Athlon XP2100+(overclocked)
512 MB DDR

It runs fine on mine, but you may want to turn that… er… inertia down, it slides for a really long time and looks bad because the text and lines are “jumping”

the only problem guys is that relatively nobody has flash 7.

Though I think that swf’s exported for flash player 7 can be played on flash player 6, just be sure not to have any AS that flash player 6 doesn’t support such as CSS stuff. I’ve also found out that the 7 compiler is case sensitive when you use variables…

This is a thread where people can brag about how fast their computer is and what it’s overclocked too, and how much ram and bells and whisles… ug… me manly!

I’m sure if you have an amazingly fast computer with a billion rams per second everything will work fine!! We’re all really happy for you!

The rest of us [me] find that site to be really clunky and choppy with our old school 386’s. Perhaps 2MB of ram is not so hot anymore.

But seriously, 400mhz, 128MB ram… site is slow and choppy. Too flashy for the average computer. :stuck_out_tongue:
