Dual Core processor question

Okay I am looking at getting a dell Inspirion 9400 laptop as a multimedia machine (AE, RF and LW only). SO I am customizing it and I come to the processor option that presents me with

T2600 Intel® Core™ Duo Processor T2600 (2.16GHz/667MHz FSB)

T2400 Intel® Core™ Duo Processor T2400 (1.83GHz/667MHz FSB)

Now I see the processor speed is alot faster. But is it that much of a difference to justify 500 bucks more to the price? If there isnt much of a jump in performance or speed I am going to roll with the t2400 and maybe bump up the vid card or ram later in the configure stuff. Right now I am at 1100. Also feel free to make any suggestions outside of what I am asking.

I doubt there’s much difference, its only like 300mhz, I doubt i’d pay an extra 500 for that over more RAM or better graphics card.

I agree with Butters. $500 is too steep for 300 mhz, and you will see greater performance gains with more RAM and upgraded video card.

t2400 it is…the 2 people I wanted to hear from too… now I can bump up to the 17in wxuga…screen with tru brite or whatever it is called.

DDD - have you seen this also?

$750 off notebooks and 40% off desktops.

Hey Kirupa, you thought about being a Dell representative?
Kirupa: “And wait, there’s more. It’s WUXGA!”

I think it’s a nice choice DDD, there are not many other laptops that have a competitive price.
