Dynamic loading?

I’ve created a file in flash which uses spreadsheets created in Microsoft excel. Is there any way I can load these dynamicaly instead of cutting and pasting?

any help would be apreciated!!!

hmmm

this is good, but is there no way I can just use the spreadsheet file and not have to use notepad?

cheers!!

the only other way i know would be to convert the excel file to an xml document (see this) and then parse that document in flash

oh dear!

I really dont understand that, VB isn’t one of my strongest languages, could you maybe dumb it down a little?
(into homer simpson language?haha!!)

or even just give me some tip on it?

cheers

<s>I haven’t done that before, and to be honest, I don’t quite get how would that work, all i know is that flash can parse and xml document, and excel spreadsheet can be converted somehow to an xml using a plug-in of some sort :frowning:

sorry, that’s all i can do…</s>

nevermind… what excel version are you on?

2000

It says something about using ADO 2.5, is that software?

maybe I should download that?!

I’ll give it a go, if I fail, i’ll post again on kirupa!(trusted method!!)

That article is old. In the XP version of excel, you can save a spreadsheet as an xml document (file > save as > XML Spreadsheet (*.xml))… I’m not quite sure about 2000… do you have it?

will excel XP work on windows 98? ive looked at excel 2000 and it hasnt got it!! Its got save as web page and save as other formats that might work i’ll try them and let you know how its goin!!!

maybe I should get XP?

if you can afford it, you might wanna buy it
