Ebay and Paypal

Hey everyone!

i am starting to sell items on ebay and i cant seem to figure out how to get the relationship between ebay and paypal to work. I have gone through a few steps but to no avail. How can i get funds from ebay to paypal.

Thanks!
-Alex

Well… eBay bought PayPal a while back… they should be nearly completely integrated now. I’m not exactly sure how to do it, though.

Shouldn’t it be going the other way around? (Paypal -> eBay)

No…

Yes nokrv, i think is right the way around, from Paypal to Ebay.
I think you should search on Google just to be sure.

I think Harish added the words “was” and “by” around “bought” in my sentence.

In Paypal

  • Make a premier or business account
  • Go to My Account (large tab) then underneath go to “profile”
  • The on the very right column labeled “Selling Preferences”, click on the first link, which says “Auctions”
  • This is where I have put in my eBay account.

In eBay

  • Make a “seller” account, by putting in your cc # and bank account #s
  • Go to My eBay
  • On the left column, under “My Account”, you should see a link to Preferences. Basically, just go through the preferences and see which options you prefer, (Accept PayPal on ALL listings, etc.)
  • Then go to the link “seller account” under the same “My Account” sub-column. If you want to, you can setup automatic payment of eBay fees from your PayPal account. This allows for further integration.

That’s pretty much it (the PayPal section is more important for integration but you will like to do what I said above), you will be inserting your PayPal account email address in each listing, don’t worry eBay remembers it for you.

Make sure your eBay email is DIFFERENT from your PayPal email
This will help you avoid getting SCAMMED by PHISHERS

As for your problem from getting funds from eBay to PayPal…eBay doesn’t store funds for you, they take funds from you. They have a seller fee ‘bill’ available to see at (My eBay > My Account > Seller Account). You will have to pay these fees on a regular basis to avoid account deletion. As I said, you can select the option to automatically pay fees from your PayPal account.

Ok. Say you sell something. The buyer pays you through PayPal ONLY. The money does not touch eBay itself. Straight from one PayPal to the Other. eBay has a built in Payment Processor (checkout) to ensure the transaction. It’s a surefire way of avoiding scams, etc.

If the buyer pays by Paypal, isn’t it automatically added into your paypal account? (You will need to accept the payment though) Also, it won’t go onto your credit card or whatever straight away, it will stay as ‘credit’ in paypal that you can then spend on eBay.

Nicely said

I meant sending money to Ebay from Paypal, not the other way around. I know eBay bought Paypal! :stuck_out_tongue:

btw, harish is more right than you, nokrev :devious:

Aye… ok, then. Now we both understand each other.

Err… he just agreed with me. How can you say that?

There’s a right and there’s a wrong. You can’t be more right or more wrong. A single mistake and its wrong. Yeahhhh! I owned you huh?

Okay, I’ll shutup again.

Back to topic…

Well, do you sell stuff on eBay?

eBay doesn’t store any of your money, they store negative money, a.k.a. fees.

You use Paypal to pay the fees, therefore Paypal > eBay is correct.

Read my fat post above.

Paypal > eBay? What’s that supposed to mean? eBay owns paypal, which is what we were discussion. I don’t understand you.

Naij great explanation and post, one question: if i have an ecommerce site how i make it available to rceive credit cards payments using my paypal account???
I am very interested in know this.!!
