Electrongeek's killer glint effects...how?

I absolutely LOVE the glint effects and metallic textures on electrongeeks website http://www.electrongeek.net

I would like to achieve that same effect for a logo of mine.

I have flash mx, photoshop 7, and swift 3d v3, as well as freehand and fireworks, and swish 2.01.

I would like to apply a metallic texture exactly like on eg’s site, and also some tips on creating a killer glint effect.

I know this is a personal question directed at one person, but i did not want to annoy him by pm :-\ and also hopefully others will know.

I can achieve a glint effect which is not bad. You can check out my example which i made at http://www.hinduvidya.com

One last thing (yes i know thats 3 now) is how to drop a shadow around the borders of my movie and text boxes

I have a glint effect on my site? haha I forgot all about it.

What you have so far is pretty close to what I have. What I did was have the glint move back and forth from left to right and then back to left. What you have now only moves from left to right.

Just change it and make the tweens shorter and you’ll have what I have. =)

I used Cinema 4D and applied my secret metal textures. :stuck_out_tongue:

How’d you learn all that in 9 months? Did u take classes (i’m too **** poor for that) or did you have someone who knew (such as a friend) teach you? … or are u just super smart

I was pretty lucky actually, I met this friend named Google and he introduced me to other cool friends named kirupa.com, flashkit.com, ultrashock.com, and actionscript.com. They taught me the basics about flash. Oh and Kirupa introduced me to Lostinbeta who taught me pretty much everything I know about actionscripting. :stuck_out_tongue:

I’ve only stumbled upon two of the sites, Flashkit and Kirupa (which I think Kirupa is a better place to learn, at least for newbs). me go check those other two out right now ^^

EG’s right…you don’t know what you can achieve till you try.

I only been using flash for 2 months, although i know no AS i can at least see something improving in the rest of the department :slight_smile:

Flash is definitely one of the greatest things I’ve got into. I can’t even imagine what my website would look like, but it would probably look like Strongbad’s site. :stuck_out_tongue:
