Hello,
I am a designer and developer and I typically use Flash, XHTML, and PHP. But I have an opportunity to work for a smaller company doing ColdFusion development and some design and they are willing to pay me for most of my learning time to pick up ColdFusion.
My question is do you think learning ColdFusion would be bad for the up keep of my PHP skills? Or if ColdFusion is a poor language to learn? Thank you for any advice!
I’m not gonna lie it won’t hurt your PHP skills just postpone learning new things in that area. The largest reason to use it is if you need to quickly convert the site/pages to pdfs or for documentation.
I myself would take a bullet in the leg before using it… but it may help you in other jobs where they need people to maintain previously created CF web applications (few people know it so… you would probably be one of few applying).
