well over part of my christmas break i went to massanutten (VA) to give it a shot. as simple as it looked on the television, it was hard as hell. the hard part was controlling yourself when you’re bound to your board, which sucks in many ways. during lessons they taught us how to ride with just one foot bound to the board. even then it was terror on my legs. my board would slide away from me while my other leg would try to stop. given enough times, i probably could’ve done splits.
i couldn’t make it down a hill once without falling on my bum. now my whole body aches in pain and i so want to go out there and keep practicing. i know it ain’t easy but i’ll get it. i’m going back to the resort by the end of the week. hopefully i can challenge shaun paulmer after then. (yeah, right…)
I LOVE snowboarding, but unfortunately I hardly ever get a chance to do it these days. Maybe this winter though. My new roommate has a house in Vermont.
LOL…the first day was VERY painful. I was achy and had a sore backside for days. The second day we had it going pretty good though. I was/am a skateboarder for 15 years now so I picked it up pretty quick.
I took my first lesson, the first day of a week at (I think) Magic mountain. I’m an avid skier, and knew that I was going to enjoy the vacation, even if I didn’t go with the snowboard after the lesson. To make a long story short, I finished the lesson, started down the hill to get my skis and start on the sloped. I fell down and broke my wrist.
I want to try it again though. My step brothers rave about it. (of course they were living in Colorado for a few years)
skiboarding is way better. i snowboarded for a good 2 yrs, but then i tried skiboarding, b/c i aggro inline skate now. i think its more fun, u can do more tricks.
Yeah I skied since I was 4 years old, and then I tried snowboarding 3 years ago. I haven’t looked back since. After you get past the first week, it’s a hell of a lot of fun! I go up to Tahoe a lot, and snowboard every time now. Stick with it Thor, you’ll be glad you did!
well, skiboards are like skis, only they are only a couple inches bigger than the boot on front and back. they are double sided.
picture a snowboard in photoshop. front of it on the top of the document, bottom on the bottom, from an overhead view of the board. then rotate it 90*. stretch the picture horizontally, press ctrl± a few times, take off one binding and put the one in the center and BAM… skiboard
