I was hoping this wasn’t so easy it didn’t require a ? but
what do I do to export a flash movie so that it can be viewed on a standard DVD player?

DVDs can play flash files??? I don’t think so.
Maybe if you manage to convert your Flash to a supported file… like MPG.
YES the only way is to convert to MPG … I have done this on a couple of
projects and lets just say “it ain’t no picnic” 
You have to be very careful of nested clips and loops because what convert out to MPG is not always what you saw when you tested out the swf. You also need some sense of DV standards like screen res. for you output platform, ect.
It can be done if you do a little homework and a lot of trial and error!
