External SWF MASKS

Hi there,

This is my first post… but I’ve used Kirupa for a while and it’s helped me out.

What I’m doing is having two movie clips (say mc1 and mc2)… and alternately loading a new movie into them. The newest movie is brought to the highest level. i.e.

  1. Load ex1.swf into mc1, bring mc1 to highest level.

  2. Load ex2.swf into mc2, bring mc2 to highest level.

  3. Load ex3.swf into mc1, bring mc1 to highest level.

  4. Load ex4.swf into mc2, bring mc2 to highest level.

And this could go on for any number of swfs.

What I need to do is create transitions between the latest played external swf, and the next one being loaded. IS THIS POSSIBLE WITH A MASK?

From what I’ve seen, masks work only different layers, rather than levels. And if I could get this to work, could a mask include the current contents of a swf?
