Fade effect

hi everyone,

i’m trying to do this fade effect with some text. I know its a really easy thing to do, but for some reason when i go and test the movie, it doensn’t do the fade thing! and i don’t understand why…i’m guessing i’m missing something.

This is what i did, i made the text, highlighted it (with the blue outline) then converted it to a movieclip. Set the frames (first frame alpha at 0%, went to frame 35 alpha 100%) tested the movie and it didn’t work!

Can someone pls give me a suggestion. i don’t understand why it isn’t working…

Try using a different font!
Especially if the font you’re using starts with and underscore ("_")

You need to apply a Motion Tween in between the first and thirty fifth states. Just click on any point between those two frame (it’ll be grey at the moment). Look at the Properties panel and there should be an option for Tween. Select Motion from the drop down and away you go.

oh well kitiara is right too!
Didn’t think of that :slight_smile:

And we posted at the same time!

Doh!

oh yes. and i forgot to tell you guys that i did apply the motion tween! heh. it doesn’t work! i don’t get why!!?!

k so i tried using different fonts, that didn’t work either?..although i don’t know why the font would effect the fading? what am i missing? this is so frustrating!

Choose static font instead of dynamic. I hope it helps.

sometimes when you get stucked and you can do what you wanna do and you know that you´re doing it in the right way, deleting the troublesome frames is the only way out. delete them, them do them again, this time nice and slow in the right order.

If this doesn´t help check this list and see if you skiped something:

1- create a text;
2- select it;
3- press F8 and make it a movieclip;
4- doubleclick this new movie clip, to edit it;
5- click on the first frame (the only at the moment) with the right button and select “Create motion tween”;
6- click on the frame 35 (blank at this point) with the right button and select “Insert Keyframe”;
7- back to the firts frame click on the text;
8- On the properties panel you should now read this:
Graphic Instance of: Tween#
9- in the properties panel, click on the color dropdown box and select alpha, and then set it to “0”.

That should be all

i tried it again for the millionth time, and the static text worked!
yay. Thanks for your help everyone! :slight_smile:
