How do you fade an image gradualy revealing it, from the top left corner to the bottom right.
i.e. a black movie, the image in the centre as a background, a black box layer covering the image which fades on a diagnol from the top left corner to reveal the backgound image.
I figure it must be using the alpha value and a motion tween as with a standard image/text fading, however I am unsure how to reveal in the diagnol manner.
Hmm, interesting idea. There is a way to accomplish this, but it requires a few prerequisites. For one, you must set your background as a monochromatic, single shaded image where you want your image to appear. Next, create a new graphic symbol and make a rectangle. Delete the border. With the fill options panel, fill it with a gradient fill. Open up your mixer panel ( I believe) and while still having the fill options panel open, select one side of the spectrum. Let’s assume it’s white. Set it’s transparency to 0. The last thing to do is to just create a masking effect which I’m sure you know how to do.
This masking technique isn’t like masking a text. Since this is probably a jpg, you just want it to appear gradually without masking any layer. Have the initial color of your rectangle match the background and simply have it move away from the image during a motion tween. Since one side of the gradient filled rectangle is transparent, it’ll slowly appear, left to right, up or down, depending on where you place your rectangle and at what angle the animation takes place.
