hi
im running a LAN using a linksys 4 port cablr/dsl router with a built in firewall. i was wondering how do i view my firewall logs?
btw this is seattlejaguar, got bored of typing it in everytime i signed in
im deciding that im gonna stay seattlejaguar
(lol couldnt find the avatar i use on this on on my hd:))
Not sure sir, but I’d be interested to know myself.
Probebly says in the manual, I’ve just never bothered to look.
i have the same router that you do, but i dont know if mine has a firewall. i just have my good ole’ Norton firewall up right now.
in a new browser window just type the IP address of the box in question, should open up the whole control panel for that device
[ie:: http: // 192.168.0.1 ] (w/out spaces of course)
… on yer userName issue here … just select to auto log / remember me thingie
I’ve seen the setting on the router page, but I’m unclear how to set it up. Instructions are necessary.
thanks guys…ill try entering my ip

my email just happens to be in there
edit: fginally, afer three edits, the link should work now
192.168.. is a privite IP scope. Meaning it is only used on privite networks, ie home networks. As far as your internet IP goes the info is correct. your ISP’s offices are in NJ. Even if you are not. Try putting in the IP address of your router. If you dont know this go to a DOS window and type ipconfig /all Look for the line in the info that reads Default Gateway… If the address it shows starts with 192...* you should be all set. That is the IP of your router. Once you are in the router, you are on your own. I can only tell you how to pull reports for Cisco devices. =)
Cheers!

Because it just happens to be your userName for access to the router…
(BTW - who set up your router for you ???)
now enter your password in there and you’re in
ps:
If it wasn’t changed at set up time, your default P-word = “admin”
:sure:…I was bored so I did some of yer homework for you…
…download the user guide (PDF)
thanks guys!
ok im still stuck i dont know the username/pass and i tried admin
then it was changed at set up time … who set it up ?
you can try blanking out the user name and type [admin] (lower case, no brackets ) as the password…
OR (and you’ll have to reset/configure it completely afterwards)::
find the little hole (should be in front of the four port model) and press the reset button with a paperclip hold it in for about a minute, this CLEARS EVERYTHING back to factory settings including logs, passwords, etc.
