Flash 9 Wishlist!

One thing I haven’t seen around here is a collection of good ideas for a future release of Flash!

Here’s a start:

  • I’d like an envelope/mesh modifier for vector shapes and dynamic text, like in Illustrator, which allows me to reshape object but with the ability to edit them as normal text (and not as outlined shapes). Called it warped objects if you like

  • I’d like an AS editor that allows me to instantly give me all my actionscripts from the whole timeline, with collapsable parts - each part being all the AS for one seperate frame. I hate to edit a shape in one layer, move back up to my actions layer and select that single frame to access my AS. I want to have everthing in one window, sorted by frame. Shouldn’t be too difficult

  • Very simple thing, but a great feature in my view would be to incorporate the TAB and F shortcuts from Photoshop/Illustrator, which allows you to work in fullscreen mode and turn your panels on/off with only 2 shortcuts. When I work on my notebook, the screen gets cluttered easily and I don’t always need every panel. I hate the collapsable panel idea that they have now…when extending one window, it automatically collapses another.

  • Another option would be to have a combination of scrolable and collapsable panels - like I have in 3DS Max. That means that you have panels that run 4x your screen height, but with the option to collapse specific sections you don’t need, without collapsing the whole panel.

  • And my biggest wish is, now that Macromedia and Adobe are physically connected as a business, that Flash copies ALL shortcuts and workflow from Illustrator. Or at least gives us the choice of Illustrator workflow or Classic Flash workflow. I really, really dislike the totally different way of working with vector graphics and text. And I believe that Flash should addapt to Illustrator, not the other way around.
I wouldn’t mind seeing a crossover version of the two apps - with a difference in both scripting and pure designing/drawing. Just like Lightwave comes as a seperated piece of software, one part of modelling and another for lighting and rendering.

Anyway, I’m sure you’ll have some smarter ideas for a future version of Flash ! (Remember they make software for us - so I’m sure someone’s interested)
