Hello
I’m in the process of creating a digital training aid for a client. It demonstrates the use of a particular piece of equipment which I have rendered in 3ds max and rendered in ( mental ray ) It need’s to be interactive, so each step you have the option to watch the previous movie or continue onto the next step. Although the title says DVD, this will run on computers and not a DVD player.
At the moment, i’ve set it up so that the flash movie is calling on the external flv rendered movies. I thought this would be best in terms of playback and file size?
Each step isn’t massive… between 100-400 frames long.
Anyway, I was just wondering whether anyone else has created something similar and if I’m going about it in the correct way. One thing I have noticed is the pause between each step when loading the external movie. It’s only about 2 seconds but I haven’t tested this on an actual DVD yet so it could be worse.
I’m using Flash CS5, Actionscript 2.0, 3ds Max 2011 (Mental Ray)
I have thought about using swift3d plugin but unfortunately the client has seen examples of the mental ray render and from the trial I used, Swift couldn’t get close to the quality.
Would really appreciate it if anyone could give any type of advice as to whether I’m on the right track.
Many thanks
Tris
