i would like to create the following effect in flash but can’t find an adequate solution. i’m wondering if anyone thinks this is possible and if so, what approach they would take;

there would be something like a ball of string loosely wound together. One end would then be ‘pulled’ so that the ball becomes a single string.
i thought about doing a mask of some sort but can see this taking ages to manually construct. do you think it is possible to actionscript please?
