Flash movies as desktop interface

I am developing an internet cafe program that presents patrons with an easy to use interface for surfing the internet, providing links and search boxes etc. Would anyone know how I can get a swf to boot up on a computer as a replacement for the desktop, that cannot be changed.

you can always use active desktop and use an HTML page with the .swf in it and you’ll have a flashy desktop

yeah that’s the basic way, I dunno if you can safeguard it so no-one changes it… (there WILL be ppl who will try, just cause they’re jacka$ses)

hmm, you could limit the user to do hardly anything with the computer, how i don’t know. But start off with making an administrator account and then read some tutorials or something on how to limit users to basic stuff. The school im going too hand out laptops and let the students borrow them for 3 years (2,0 ghz yeah baby) and like the three first weeks off school you are not allowed to install anything, or change the register (regedit). But as they gain more confidence in the student, the more power you get.

Ive read there is a app to create applications for flash for your windows desktop , let me check…

i tried out SWF Desktop. i’m sorry to say that the only thing cool it does is make the installer. but it winds up just creating an html page and using that as the bg. so don’t buy any 3rd party programs, just write the html, and then if you absolutely positively need an installer, go with swf studio by northcode, they are the best 3rd party EVER.

humm, i know a place that does what ur talking about, its called lanferno, its somewhere close to where i live

when the computer boots, thats all it shows, and no one can change it, its cool, but dont know how its done

try searching for Lanferno on google, its located somwhere in VA, dunno, good luck
