Flash MX holds no logic!

Ok, I’ve been working on this flash file(s) for some time now. Let me explain the makeup of this project and then what the problem is…

It is a combination of 3 flash files:

  1. NewLayout; It is the navigation for the project.

    (http://www.kernlearn.net/Personnel/kirupa/NewLayout.fla)

  2. OuterMovies; It is the content that is ‘supposed’ to work with the NewLayout.

    (http://www.kernlearn.net/Personnel/kirupa/OuterMovies.fla)

  3. Main; It is the brain of the 3 files and it imports and executes NewLayout and OutMovies.

Ok now that that is done. What I do is inside the MC of 1 of the hover buttons (ie. Btn1) on the 93rd frame it sets a variable called _global.checkFrameIsSafe to either 1, 2, 3, 4, or 5 depending on which button you clicked. Then in the OuterMovies file I check on enterFrame for what the variable is. Then if the variable is equal to the one that is doing the testing it will play the movie but of course Flash wants be be an a-hole and not work with me. Can somebody please help me?!?! This is for my job and if I can’t get this working I will be up **** creek without a paddle.

TaylorTAP: “PFFT”??? I dunno, maybe that means something different where you are, but here it pretty much a sarcastic statement meaning you were dis-satisfied. If that is the case, sorry our voluntary help didn’t meet your 30 minute requirement :-\ Good Job on fixing your problem though, congrats :slight_smile:

I would normally not had been disstisified but I was watching people online look @ the article and then move on. Also, I usually get pretty swift response on BBs. I guess I’m just spoiled. Also, I wasn’t really upset or anything, I think Kirupa is an incredibly awesome site and the tutorials are way better than flashkit ever could be.

As for no-one replying, I’ve had that too. You must understand, that if ppl read it, and don’t know the answer, they just move on… I do that too. :slight_smile:

Do you have any suggestions as to how I can smooth them out? After I get this more complete I’ll post it up. This is my first attempt at Flash.

Nice little transition when you click a menu item, I like that. Especially since it’s a first attempt, you should be pleased. :slight_smile:

Now which bits are you trying to make smoother?

Thanks for the kind words. I guess Phile was referring to when my button grows up to a window size. I’m not sure, if you have any general overall suggestions I’d be more then happy to listen to you. Since, you guys are really good at Flash and I’m still a novice.

Its been 3 months later and you bring it up now? That’s unusual.

Anywho, I don’t have the ability to unban, only Kirupa does. And he is leaving for vacation today (perhaps already left) and won’t be back for a few days. Then after that the mods have to decide whether or not we should unban someone who is willing to act so offensively on a public forum.

lol, sorry I didn’t even notice it because im a spacey type of guy. But my buddy does like it on here and actually he was the one that told me about it. He is a very nice guy and was totally just joking around. He is sorry and would like to rejoin the forum community.

Oh, hrmm, I thought he was unbanned by Kirupa after the poll, perhaps he forgot… :-\

Hrmm well… NOW Ital Stal is a member again, but rude behaviour such as what he displayed here it not tolerable, we will be keeping an eye on him, so he should make good use of this second chance.
