Flash Preloader & HTML site

I succesfully completed my first Flash tutorial at Kirupa.com. I wanted a preloader for a site I would be doing for a student group. However, I am now stumped as to what to do with the .FLA file >_<

embeded the code using Dreamweaver MX, and It didn’t come out the way I wanted at all.

My goal is to have the preloader come into effect, and once the site is loaded, for it to disappear and show my site. I don’t have any clue on how to achieve this effect.

Here is the tutorial I followed [<a href=“http://www.kirupa.com/developer/mx/percentagepreloader.htm”>link</a>]. I am guessing I made the wrong type of preloader ?

thats a good tut man!

Why dont you post ur file here, so i can have a look at it

Hope this helps.

I don’t get it… whats the problem?

The preloader never goes away because you tell it to gotoAndPlay frame 3, but according to this .fla, frame 3 does not exist. You need to start whatever content you have on frame 3 and up.

=\

Ok I noticed that, so I add a 3rd frame to the actions layer, and then embed the link to my page (?), what actions should I enter. I am clueless as to how it would load my web page.

It doesn’t load your web page, it loads your .swf file.

The tutorial teaches you how to make a preloader for the .swf file for which the code is contained in. So it will preloader the content of that .swf file and not another one. So starting on frame 3 you would put any of your Flash content that belongs in that file.

Ok, I am no where near the level it takes to build a site entirely from Flash, so this preloader is useless for now.

Is there a preloader tutorial someone could link to for me, I would like to preload an html site, here is an example site attached…

Thanks alot, those will be really helpful in the future.

For now I will brush up on Flash basics.
