“Flash Kart is the web’s first fully modular, fully skinnable shopping cart system for Flash MX® and (coming soon) SWiSHmax®.
Integrating Flash Kart into new or existing Flash sites is a snap – just add buttons! No back-end scripting or session variables to contend with. With Flash Kart, a single, simple line of code is all that’s required.
Flash Kart updates in real-time. _No clicking over to extra pages simply to view what’s in your cart, find out how much you’ve spent or adjust item quantities. _All computations are done “on the fly.” Also, Flash Kart is ready to processes purchases the moment it begins loading, so dial-up customers will not have to wait for the program to fully load in order to begin buying your products.”
Personal Opinion: a bit ugly for $75 and only a (bad) Paypal integration…!
After looking at the date of this original post I can’t say that I disagree with this opinion… and I’m the developer of Flash Kart (and the one responsible for that particular skin).
At any rate, the skin has thankfully evolved (although my artistic skills remain about the same, which are not very good at all). Further, the skinning methodology of Flash Kart has evolved as well. While version 1.0 was 100% actionscript, version 1.1 now employs the timeline, a move which allows simple effect tweens and thus provides a much smoother and aesthetically pleasing shopping cart experience.
Also, the price has dropped considerably: it’s now $39.95. Additional licenses are required for each domain, but cost less than half the price of the application itself.
I’m not sure exactly what constitutes a bad Paypal integration. If the current integration can be improved upon, please let me know.
Finally, I’m certainly open to further opinions and suggestions on the current incarnation of Flash Kart.
(Lastly, I should go ahead and thank the creator(s) and administrators of this site, as the development of Flash Kart oft led me right here. So thanks, guys.)
Hello
Firstly i would like to say well done to the dev of flash kart as to me on face value it seems extremly effective and fast.
there is one this that i would change and that is that there should be a confirm button when you clear the kart because that could realy anoy anyone who has spent ages shoping.
In my opinion I think its impressive to have a flash shopping experience HOWEVER, the major pitfall is its integration with paypal. If I were you i would seriously considder looking into other payment gateway integration as I find companies that employ a Paypal scheme often appear cheap, tacky and not professional.
Derek,
I checked it out again and it really is a big improvement, looks really good now, price looks ok, and the problem I had experienced when trying/simulating to buy it is gone too, good job! Keep improving, I’ll feature you on my site
